In short: Yes. Few words more: If you able add call to extternal function into your file - it's enough. If your site didn't write on Perl/PHP - another easy way to get what you need is shell. It wouldn't work if you use pure HTML, but don't worry - no one can add spam to your site if you don't use any script language, afaik :) It wouldn't work if you are unable|prohibited|restricted to edit script source - for example web-site is your own but your guestbook belong to your hosting provider.
